Speech/Language Pathologist (SLP)

Position Location: Rush City Public Schools and North Branch Area Public Schools
Position Purpose:
The Speech/Language Pathologist (SLP) provides early intervention services to school-aged children with disabilities. In collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, this SLP will partner with and be a resource to families to help produce the best possible developmental outcomes for their infants and toddlers in the most natural learning environment.
Essential Duties:
* Identification, Screening and Evaluation
o Assist in the completion of screenings
o Complete multi-disciplinary team evaluations and assessments(as deemed appropriate by screening results, medical records, or evaluation team decision) to determine strengths and educational needs for each child
o Synthesize assessment data and evaluation results to make eligibility determinations set forth by the state of Minnesota
* Service Delivery
o Provide direct and indirect speech/language services to school-aged chidlren asspecified within each learner’s Individual Education Program (IEP) throughout the school year.
o Prepare and maintain an efficient schedule for delivery of all early intervention responsibilities
o Assure compliance with special education procedural requirements and due process timelines
o Prepare individual program plans, periodic reviews and progress reports according to due process guidelines
o Determine developmentally appropriate materials, assessment tools, and/or adapted equipment for use with students
o Assist in ordering materials and diagnostic tools
o Facilitate accommodations and modifications to materials, assistive technology, and the home environment
* Curriculum and Instruction
o Provide input on curriculum and instruction development, selection, and implementation as requested
o Assist in the development and procurement of accessible materials, as needed
* Consultation and Collaboration
o Act an IEP case manager and/or and work cooperatively on IEP teams with special education personnel, families and other service providers
o Work collaboratively with member districts to ensure smooth transitions into district programming
o Identify community resources and assist families to access resources
* Professional Learning
o Actively participate in relevantcommittees, as well as other regional or state professional learning opportunities
o Provide training and consultation regarding augmentative/alternative communication, articulation, language, voice, and fluency, as needed.
* Other Duties
o Performs other duties as assigned
Education & Training:
* Minimum
o Bachelor’s degree in Communication Disorders or Speech Language-Hearing-Services; OR,
o Speech-Language Assistant certificate and a bachelor’s degree in any field
* Preferred
o Master’s degree in Communication Disorders
Work Experience:
* Preferred
o Three or more years working in a related position
o Knowledge of augmentative communication
Licensure/Certification:
* Minimum: Minnesota teaching licensure in Speech-Language or ability to obtain
* Preferred: Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC)

* Ability to work collaboratively on a team
* Organizational skills to manage multiple projects

* Strong oral and written communication skills
* Adaptability based on changing needs
* Solutions-focused problem-solving skills

Supervision: Reports to the Director of Special Education
Physical Demands
* Ability to lift 30 pounds to carry materials between home visits
* Travel between homes and/or daycare centers in East Central, Hinckley, Rush City, and Chisago Lakes
Salary and Benefits
* Salary: $50,000 - $100,000 (subject to negotiated agreement and work experience). Current contract linked to our Teacher Master Agreement
