Purchase Ledger Clerk

About the Role
As a Purchase Ledger Clerk, you will be responsible for processing supplier invoices, verifying details, reconciling statements and supporting the day-to-day administration of the purchase ledger. You will play a key role in maintaining accurate records, ensuring timely payments, and building strong relationships with suppliers and internal teams.
Salary: £31,000 per annum
We are looking for applicants who have the following skills:
1. Strong attention to detail and accuracy when handling invoices and data
2. Good communication skills to liaise with suppliers and colleagues
3. Ability to work effectively in a team and meet deadlines
4. Self-discipline and proactive approach to problem-solving
5. Basic knowledge of VAT and purchase ledger processes (desirable)
6. Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
7. Eligibility to work in the UK
Responsibilities of the role:
8. Accurately input invoice details into the purchase ledger system
9. Match invoices against purchase orders and query any discrepancies
10. Verify VAT details and ensure compliance with company and legal requirements
11. Reconcile supplier statements and ensure prompt payments are authorised within agreed terms
12. Chase credit notes for returned or damaged goods
13. Resolve supplier queries promptly and maintain strong working relationships
14. File invoices, statements, and maintain records in line with GDPR requirements
15. Support the Finance team with additional tasks when required
