Job Summary
Primary Care Clinical Lead – HMP Wymott, Category C male prison, Leyland. Ideally a car driver required due to location.
HMP Wymott holds a capacity of around 1,100 and serves a varied and complex inmate population.
Position comprises 70% managerial and 30% clinical responsibilities, with direct oversight of a team of six team leaders.
Work involves multidisciplinary teamwork within the healthcare department and across prison wings.
Main Duties
* Provide clinical leadership and management to registered nurses and care teams.
* Deputise for the Deputy/Head of Healthcare when required.
* Collaborate with partners to maintain high‑quality clinical service, ensuring practice aligns with autonomous roles.
* Model a culture of compassion, care, courage, commitment, communication and competence.
* Coach, line manage and develop clinical staff; support audits, governance and local operating protocol development.
* Chair and facilitate healthcare meetings, provide clinical supervision and conduct investigations locally and regionally.

Hours and Salary
* Monday to Friday, 8:00‑16:00, 37.5 hours per week
* Annual salary up to £51,643‑£58,012 (full‑time, FTE, based on experience)

Candidate Requirements
* Current UK professional registration (UK Registration)
* Legal right to work in the UK; role will undergo additional vetting and security checks; Disclosure and Barring Service check required.
* Experience as a registered nurse (NMC) and evidence of continued professional development
* Understanding of multidisciplinary and multi‑agency working in a secure environment
* Non‑judgmental, compassionate approach and excellent communication skills
* Line‑management experience and nursing mentorship
* Experience in hospital, community or prison healthcare is desirable but not essential
