Shop Volunteer - St Andrews, Fife, SAVE THE CHILDREN (Guardian Jobs)
Please note this is a voluntary, unpaid role, based in the UK. We are not able to provide support with visa requests. Candidates must be over 16.
What you’ll do
* Sort and price stock
* Engage with customers
* Ring items through the till
* Help create window displays
* Keep the shop floor organized
It’s up to you how much you commit. Some volunteers support for a couple of hours a week, others more. Many volunteer either a morning or an afternoon each week; this will be discussed at the selection stage after you’ve applied.
Why volunteer with Save the Children?
We are passionate about what we do and raise vital funds for our work. Our shop teams advocate for the rights of children in the UK and around the world, and help give second-hand clothing a chance of going to a good home.
Skills and experiences we seek
* No specific retail or shop experience is required; full training will be provided
* Be a team player, open to learning, and able to follow our policies
* Be an excellent representative for Save the Children
* We welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds and aim to find a role that fits
What happens next?
After you’ve submitted an application, you will be invited for an informal trial shift at the shop. This is a chance to visit, meet current volunteers, and try some tasks to see if the role suits you. We also ask for a couple of references (not necessarily formal workplace references), from someone who has known you for over 6 months and isn’t related.
