Summary You will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced Process Engineering and Process Safety Consultants, gaining hands-on experience in real-world projects. You will support the team in conducting technical assessments, analysing process hazards, and developing safety solutions whilst learning industry best practices. Wage £18,000 a year Check minimum wage rates (opens in new tab) Salary increase in line with experience after first year. Training course Science industry process and plant engineer (degree) (level 6) Hours Monday- Friday 8am- 4pm 37 hours 30 minutes a week Start date Monday 1 September 2025 Duration 5 years Positions available 1 Work Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience. What you'll do at work Through mentorship and on-the-job training, you will enhance your technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and understanding of process safety regulations, setting a strong foundation for your professional development You will attend University one day per week, working towards a BEng degree in Chemical Engineering Process safety projects will include safe process design, pressure relief, supporting process safety studies and risk assessments such as, but not limited to, hazardous area classification, hazard identification, hazard and operability studies and safety critical task analysis Where you'll work UNIT 14-17 WOODSTOCK COURT BOWESFIELD CRESCENT STOCKTON ON TEES TS18 3BL Training Apprenticeships include time away from working for specialist training. You’ll study to gain professional knowledge and skills. College or training organisation TEESSIDE UNIVERSITY Your training course Science industry process and plant engineer (degree) (level 6) Understanding apprenticeship levels (opens in new tab) What you'll learn Course contents Ensure the control, within own area of responsibility, of major accident hazards, health & safety, to statutory, mandatory and environmental standards. Ensure that targets are met and maintained, within own area of responsibility, whilst complying with defined company procedures and legislative requirements Prepare for and perform process/plant engineering tasks using the appropriate techniques, procedures and methods Support the evaluation, submission, planning, installation and commissioning of capital, maintenance and revenue projects to improve process performance Work autonomously to analyse, interpret and evaluate engineering data, presenting the results and problem solving approach clearly and concisely in written and oral form, using technology where appropriate to assist with and evaluate activies Apply continuous improvement techniques and support existing manufacturing principles to drive effectiveness and efficiency. Manage and/or support the introduction of new technologies and practices Use creative thinking and problem solving to challenge assumptions, innovate, make new proposals and build on existing ideas. Plan and prioritise process/plant tasks using project planning tools, review and evaluate progress against objectives and investigate alternative scenarios Your training plan This training plan has not been finalised. Requirements Essential qualifications A Level in: Mathematics (grade B) Sciences (grade C) Let the company know about other relevant qualifications and industry experience you have. They can adjust the apprenticeship to reflect what you already know.
