About The Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced S202 Review Officer to join our dynamic Homelessness Prevention & Advice Service (HPAS). You will be responsible for carrying out statutory reviews under Section 202 of the Housing Act 1996, ensuring that all decisions are legally robust, fair, and comply with the relevant legislation, guidance, and case law.
You will work closely with housing needs officers, legal representatives, and external agencies, providing written decisions that reflect detailed analysis and sound judgement. Your expertise will help shape outcomes that directly affect the lives of those facing housing challenges in our borough.
Your workload will vary between PVI and PVII Reviews, experience in both areas preferable.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct thorough and independent reviews of homelessness decisions under S202 of the Housing Act 1996
* Ensure that all decisions are legally compliant, clearly reasoned, and communicated effectively
* Liaise with internal teams and external partners to gather relevant evidence and ensure procedural fairness
* Keep up to date with housing legislation, case law, and statutory guidance
* Contribute to continuous service improvement and policy development within the housing service
About You
We're looking for someone who has:
* In-depth knowledge of the Housing Act 1996 (as amended), Homelessness Reduction Act 2017, and associated case law
* Proven experience of carrying out complex statutory reviews
* Excellent analytical, decision-making, and written communication skills
* Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
* A commitment to delivering high-quality, customer-focused services in a diverse borough
