Vertical Recruitment is working in partnership with a respected infrastructure consultancy delivering a major highways upgrade in collaboration with National Highways. This critical project supports a significant housing development and enhances regional connectivity in the West Midlands. An exciting opportunity now exists for a Quantity Surveyor with strong post-degree experience to join the team in Birmingham or Stoke. This role is ideal for someone looking to advance their career in infrastructure cost management, particularly at the intersection of national highways and residential development. The Role As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the commercial management of highways infrastructure works linked to a major residential development. You’ll work closely with National Highways, local authorities, developers, and contractors to ensure commercial efficiency across all stages of the project. Key Responsibilities Provide accurate cost planning, budgeting, and forecasting for highways infrastructure schemes Manage procurement processes and prepare tender documentation Administer contracts, manage change control, and assess variations and claims Monitor project costs in line with budgets and report regularly on commercial performance Liaise with stakeholders including developers, housebuilders, and public sector clients Ensure commercial compliance with contract terms, policies, and relevant legislation Support financial reporting and contribute to risk and value management Assist in delivering Section 278/38 works and related technical approvals What We're Looking For Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline Strong post-degree experience in infrastructure or highways cost management Proven ability to manage costs on complex infrastructure projects Good understanding of NEC3/4 contracts and public sector frameworks Experience working with or alongside National Highways is advantageous Strong stakeholder communication and negotiation skills What’s on Offer Competitive salary, depending on experience Hybrid working model with flexible office/site requirements Opportunity to work on a nationally significant highways programme Clear progression path within a growing and supportive consultancy Exposure to full project lifecycle from pre-contract to final account If you're ready to take the next step in your Quantity Surveying career and want to be part of a major infrastructure delivery programme, we’d love to hear from you.
