We are St Helens Borough Council
Located in the heart of the Northwest close to Liverpool, Manchester, and Lancashire, St Helens is a modernising Council passionate and ambitious for the children and families we support, our communities, and our workforce. As part of our transformation journey, we continue to build on our progress and put children firmly at the centre of our care. We can only do this because of our highly valued, skilled, and supported workforce.
Making a difference as an Intermediate Care Support Worker in Contact Cares Brookfield Centre
An Intermediate Care Support Assistant post has become available within Brookfield Support Centre, which provides bed-based intermediate care in the community. We help people avoid hospital admissions, remain as independent as possible after a hospital stay, and prevent unnecessary moves into residential homes unless truly needed.
This role is part of a multidisciplinary team working alongside therapists, nurses, social care, and medical practitioners to promote independent living and support service users' return to the community. You will assist in their rehabilitation and care programs designed to encourage independence and self-management.
Our workplace vision and values guide our organisation, emphasizing the contribution of our workforce to our cultural journey. Employees benefit from well-being initiatives, financial benefits, flexible ways of working, and professional development opportunities.
You should have experience caring for people and providing support with personal care, emotional, and social needs in a kind, respectful manner that preserves dignity and self-respect. Knowledge of safeguarding vulnerable adults and supporting service user needs is desirable; training will be provided. Clear and confident communication with team members is essential. Experience can be from paid work or lived experience.
This role involves working on a 4-week rolling rota with early (7.30 am - 3 pm) and late (2.30 pm - 10 pm) shifts, including weekends and bank holidays, for which an additional allowance is paid. Benefits include an excellent pension scheme and commitment to your professional growth.
St Helens Cares is our integrated approach to delivering health and social care, uniting various public and community services to improve lives and our community. We are proud to be part of this partnership.
Key to this vision is Contact Cares, which simplifies access to health and social care services, from nursing assessments to occupational therapy, safeguarding, reablement, audiology, and more.
We are a resilient council that values diversity and aims to create a positive, open, and progressive working environment. If you are capable of working independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, and are willing to learn new skills through training, this role may be suitable for you.
