Recursion is a clinical-stage tech-bio company, founded on the principle that generating high-quality, genome-scale datasets and pairing those datasets with high-dimensional, unbiased analyses will allow us to decode biology to radically improve lives. That we can industrialize the process of getting from raw data to therapeutics, making dramatic improvements in the lives of patients and those who love them.
We believe that there is more to learn about biology than we have already uncovered, and that showing up with humility about the complexity of biology, challenging assumptions about these systems, and allowing the data to take us on uncharted paths, will yield novel insights that allow us to unlock therapeutic opportunities in challenging diseases.
The Impact You’ll Make
As part of Recursion’s neuroscience computational biology team, you will be at the forefront of reimagining neuroscience drug discovery using Recursion’s massive data capabilities. As Recursion continues to grow our work in neuroscience, together with our partners at Roche & Genentech, you will have the opportunity to help chart that path. Working alongside world-class biologists, medicinal chemists, engineers, data scientists and ML scientists, you'll design experiments, develop new methods, analyze and interpret results and inform key program decisions, with the ultimate goal of bringing life-changing therapeutics to patients living with neurological or neurodegenerative disease.
* Synthesize diverse datasets (internal and external) to generate and evaluate hypotheses for drug discovery, biomarker development, and mechanism of action.
* Design analyses and experiment cascades to collect and combine diverse data that inform statistically-sound decisions weighing risks and benefits.
* Interpret and discuss data with internal decision makers and external partners in a clear and compelling way that drives toward getting medicines to patients.
* Industrialize approaches and analyses to not only solve for the current project, but also to accelerate future projects and scale the impact that we can have. Further advance Recursion’s ability to interpret and translate large-scale phenomics data into therapeutic programs.
* Collaborate cross-functionally with Recursion’s data science and ML teams to further advance Recursion’s ability to interpret and translate large-scale phenomics data into therapeutic programs.
Location:
This position is based at one of our office locations in London, United Kingdom, Salt Lake City, Utah,or Toronto, Ontario.
The Team You’ll Join
Our group is a bold, agile, interdisciplinary collective of biological, computational, drug discovery, and machine learning scientists deeply focused on the singular goal of bringing new therapeutics to patients at an accelerated pace. You will develop project strategy and execution and collaborate extensively with data scientists, chemists, engineers, and biologists throughout the organization to advance Recursion’s capabilities and help deliver on milestones on the path to putting treatments in patients’ hands. Essential attributes to this role include a bold, execution-first attitude and passion for deploying rigorous science to bring life-changing therapies to patients.
The Experience You’ll Need
* PhD in a relevant field (computational biology, bioinformatics, statistics, neuroscience, quantitative pharmacology, etc.) and 3+ years of experience or MS in a relevant field and 5+ years of experience.
* Demonstrated experience applying computational methods to analyze complex biological (images, proteomics, transcriptomics, GWAS, genomics, etc.) and/or human clinical data.
* Exceptional data visualization skills through creation of plots, documentation and presentations.
* Fluency and experience working with high-level programming language such as Python or R for complex data analysis.
* Owners’ mindset, boldness to learn about new data types and to master new skills.
* Demonstrated ability to efficiently advance projects to decision-points
* Demonstrated ability to carry and prioritize among multiple projects.
* Bold, passionate and highly collaborative with experience working in cross-functional teams
* Ability to clearly explain computational analyses and methodologies to cross-functional and non-technical teams.
Nice To Have:
* Experience designing high throughput experiments to address biological questions, either on your own or in collaboration with bench scientists.
* Experience advancing drug programs to later stages, evaluating and prioritizing compounds during SAR and lead optimization cycles.
Individuals with 5+ years of experience in a directly relevant drug-discovery setting will be considered for staff-level.
How You’ll be Supported
* Training on Recursion’s culture and values through hand-on workshops as well as online interactive tools will provide insight to our unique approach and strategy for success
* Regular 1:1s with supervisor as well as group meetings and analysis reviews with peers provide opportunities for support and feedback
* Opportunity to attend conferences and workshops in Neuroscience and / or Computational Biology
