Job summary

2x 2 session TPD postsbeing recruitedtosupport GP expansion and structured learningacrossthe East Midlandsuntil31.03.26.We hope that further funding will be made available to extend the post end date.

The GP TPDsfor Expansion & Structured Learning programmes will be responsible for the design, implementation, and management of innovative training programmes for General Practitioners (GPs) based in theEast Midlands.

Please notethat althoughsomeworkmaybe completed remotely,there will be regular travelrequiredaround the East Midlands.

Remuneration will be at GP00-GP01 point of national GP educator pay scale.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will work with other TPDs and ADs to provide:

Programme development and management
* Design, development and review of teaching resources in line with trainee feedback, curriculum updates, and emerging best practice.
* Ensure resources are adaptable for different stagesof GP training and accessible for diverse trainee needs.
* Support for GP registrars based on feedback and educational outcomes.
Teaching delivery
* Teaching delivery, both in-person and remotely
* Identifyand implement opportunities to innovate in teaching methods.
Collaboration and Communication
* Liaise with residents, Educational Supervisors, programme managers,Training Programme DirectorsandAPDs to ensure smooth running of the programme
* Engage with regional NHSE teams
* Engagement withother relevantstakeholders
Administration
* Maintainaccuraterecords of teaching activities, attendance, and trainee progress.
* Contribute to logistical planning.
Evaluation
* Contribute to the design and delivery of evaluation methods to assess the effectiveness of the programme.Assistwith data collection and analysis.
* Participate in faculty review processes to ensure quality and consistency across sessions.
* Embed inclusivity and accessibility into programme evaluation and development.

Person Specification

* Essential Qualifications and Training
o Registered Medical or Dental Practitioner with a current licence to practise or hold a Certificate of Completion of Training (or equivalent) in Public Health (for roles in School of Public Health).
o Membership/Fellowship of a College, Faculty or professional association relevant to the advertised role's Specialty.
o Applicants must be in current NHS clinical practice (or similar setting), or within 2 years of ceasing clinical practice, whilst in this post.
o Applicants, regardless of professional background, must have a track record of professionalism in line with the principles set out in Good Medical Practice and compatible with appointment in a senior clinical educator role.
o Attendance at courses aimed to support educational development.
o Active involvement in, and up to date with, NHS appraisal processes.
o Applicants who are GPs are normally required to be on the National Performer's List (unless they are solely undertaking an educational management role).
* Desirable Qualifications
o Higher educational qualification such as a postgraduate certificate, diploma or Master's in education.
* Essential Experience and Knowledge
o Good working knowledge of the NHS, its structures and processes.
o Demonstrable track record of delivery in service and education.
o Experience of working with learners and doctors in training in an educational context.
o Experience of clinical and educational leadership including across multi-professional teams.
o Understanding of developments involving the relevant Colleges/Faculties, professional bodies, National Institute for Health Research and academic training, NHS organisations and regulatory bodies.
* Desirable Experience and Knowledge
o Previous or current appointment as a leader in healthcare education.
o Previous experience in the recruitment and selection of doctors / learners to educational programmes.
o Awareness of funding streams for healthcare education.
o Understanding of current health, social care and education policy.
o An understanding of healthcare/multi-professional workforce matters.
