Practitioner Psychologist (Full time, band 8a or band 7 preceptorship to band 8a) Dementia Assessment Service (DAS) and Dementia and Older People\'s Mental Health Service (DOPMHs), Chichester. Travel across the geographical area covered by the team. The post sits partly in the Community Mental Health Team (DOPMH) and partly in the Dementia Assessment Service (DAS). The post is suitable for those interested in a band 7 preceptorship with a development plan to progress to a band 8a Practitioner Psychologist post in the same service. Applications from trainee psychologists due to qualify in Sept 2025 are welcome. We welcome discussions about cross-team/specialty work (e.g., DOPMH, Working Age Adult, split with acute services). Systemic/CBT therapists with relevant experience are considered. The post holder will be expected to travel across the geographical area covered by the team.
The post holder will have the opportunity to work with people with a wide range of complex mental health problems, their families and carers. You will be part of a highly skilled and supportive multi-disciplinary team based in Chichester and in the West Sussex SOAMHS services across community and acute teams.
You would be working alongside other Practitioner Psychologists, a Mental Health and Wellbeing Practitioner and trainee Clinical Psychologists. The post holder will ideally be familiar with working in an NHS setting and able to provide both direct and indirect psychological work, preferably with experience of team consultant/formulation and working in care home settings. Knowledge and skills in neuropsychology are welcome but not essential. Applicants should understand non-pharmacological approaches to support people with dementia and have experience of supporting clients whose behaviour is challenging.
The successful candidate will join a friendly, highly-skilled and enthusiastic community of psychologists in West Sussex SOAMHS services across community and acute teams. There are development opportunities for newly qualified staff, regular clinical supervision from an experienced clinical psychologist and DOPMH specialist, and a commitment to continuing professional development. The Trust offers CPD opportunities and possibilities to develop special interests and expertise aligned with service and team objectives. A newly qualified peer support group is available and staff wellbeing initiatives are a focus.

Responsibilities
 * Provide direct and indirect psychological work within NHS settings, including assessment, formulation, and intervention for people with dementia and older-people mental health problems.
 * Contribute to multi-disciplinary teamwork in Community Mental Health (DOPMH) and Dementia Assessment Service (DAS) settings.
 * Engage in service development opportunities, contribute to supervision and CPD, and develop specialist interests in line with service objectives.
 * Travel across the geographical area covered by the team to deliver services as required.
 * Collaborate with colleagues to support families and carers and engage in non-pharmacological approaches for dementia care; apply knowledge of neuropsychology where relevant.
Qualifications
 * HCPC registered Practitioner Psychologist (or eligible) with NHS experience preferred.
 * Experience with dementia, older people with mental health problems, and non-pharmacological approaches to care.
 * Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team; experience with formulation and team-based practice is desirable.
 * Knowledge of neuropsychology is welcome but not essential.
 * Flexible approach to cross-team and cross-site working; willingness to travel across the team area.
