Overview Associate Medical Director Specialised Services Commissioning for Women and Children (Joint Commissioning Committee)
– NHS Wales Joint Commissioning Committee (NWJCC). The NWJCC is a joint committee of the seven health boards in Wales, with a Chair and Lay Members. We support collaborative commissioning across Wales, with around 120 staff based in Mold and Nantgarw/Treforest. The post is at national level, with specific responsibility for providing medical support to the commissioning of specialised services for women and children for the population of Wales. This is a post for a Consultant or General Practitioner within the NHS Wales Joint Commissioning Committee (NWJCC).
The NWJCC’s mission is to be The Centre of Excellence for Collaborative Commissioning, improving health and care outcomes across Wales. We commission around 220 services, from NHS 111 and ambulance services to specialised rare disease services and mental health, operating a £1.14bn budget.
Responsibilities
Provide medical support to the commissioning of specialised services for Women and Children for the population of Wales.
Act as the Associate Clinical Director with responsibility for the provision of expert clinical advice and leadership to support the Women and Children’s Commissioning Team.
Inform an evidence-based approach within ethical frameworks for providing and developing high quality equitable services for Women and Children.
Work with NHS Wales, Welsh Government, and UK provider organisations to advance commissioning objectives.
Support a values-led culture focused on respect, trust, collaboration, and excellence, placing patients and quality at the centre of decisions.
