The Post
Brent Council declared a climate and ecological emergency in 2019 and pledged to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030. As part of the Climate and Ecological Emergency Strategy (2021-2030), this role focuses on increasing recycling rates through innovative reduce, reuse and recycle initiatives. The postholder will develop, implement and deliver waste education, communications and outreach programmes.
Responsibilities
• Contribute to the design and delivery of outreach initiatives for waste collection services.
• Engage with diverse audiences to motivate and inspire change, boosting recycling rates.
• Work closely with Veolia, the West London Waste Disposal Authority, council services and the community to achieve a major step change in waste management.
• Analyse insights and trend data to inform programmes that encourage residents to reduce, reuse and recycle.
Qualifications
• Passion for environmental sustainability and experience delivering evidence‑led waste reduction projects for a resident‑facing service.
• Knowledge of waste collection services and familiarity with relevant legislation, regulatory and policy frameworks.
• Proven ability to engage effectively with diverse audiences, inspiring change through innovative approaches.
• Excellent communication skills for liaising with various stakeholders and audiences.
