We are seeking

a Research Assistant to join the team and provide vital research and project support. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the MacroCB7 Research Project Manager and Principal Investigator, Professor Doyne Farmer, and will become an integral member of the Complexity Economics research group – a vibrant, interdisciplinary team driving innovation in economic thinking. Responsibilities:
1. Contribute to the research and project administration of the MacroCB7 project, assessing the macroeconomic and distributional impact of the UK’s Seventh Carbon Budget.
2. Contribute to wider project planning, regularly reporting on progress and contributing ideas for better ways to work together as a team
3. Become a proficient user and developer of the INET Oxford Macroeconomic model, an agent-based model that the project will extend for this policy application.
4. Gather, analyse, and present qualitative and quantitative data on the financial flows and technological changes associated with policies proposed in the UK’s Seventh Carbon Budget.
5. Contribute to research publications and policy briefings
6. Contribute to day-to-day administration of the research project, including arranging meetings and facilitating workshops
7. Contribute to discussions and share research findings with policy partners, particularly the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero
To be a successful candidate;
8. Hold a relevant first degree
9. Working towards a doctorate in a discipline related to economics or climate change policy
10. Possess sufficient specialist knowledge in energy and climate policies to participate in the MacroCB7 project
11. Experience conducting research using Python or another programming language
12. Ability to manage own research and administrative activities
13. Excellent communication skills, including the ability to write text that can be published, present data to a policy audience, and represent the research group at meetings with policy partners
