Overview
An established manufacturing business is looking to recruit an experienced Toolmaker to support its internal toolroom function. This is a hands‑on position focused on maintaining and repairing tooling within a live production environment, rather than purely new tool manufacture. You'll be part of a small, skilled team supporting a fast‑paced operation where tooling reliability directly impacts output.
The Role
* Manufacturing, repairing and modifying tooling to support production
* Responding to tooling breakdowns and restoring production capability
* Working from engineering drawings to tight tolerances
* Producing complex, multi‑part tooling assemblies
* Carrying out manual machining operations including milling, turning and grinding
* CNC machining where required (programming at machine control beneficial)
* Supporting ongoing improvements in tooling performance
* Working closely with production teams to minimise downtime
What We're Looking For
* Proven experience working as a Toolmaker within a production environment
* Strong background in tool repair, maintenance and modification
* Confident with manual machining (milling, turning, grinding)
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
* Experience working to tight tolerances and deadlines
* Comfortable operating within a busy, production‑led toolroom
* Flexible approach and willingness to support wider team objectives
Desirable (Not Essential)
* Experience with mould tooling or similar production tooling environments
* Exposure to high‑volume or continuous manufacturing processes
* CNC milling experience (programming, setting, operating)
* Experience working within quality‑controlled environments
