We are seeking a high-calibre Business Development Director to lead our growth within the UK environmental engineering sector. You will be responsible for identifying high-value opportunities in areas such as water treatment, decarbonisation, and sustainable infrastructure, bridging the gap between complex engineering solutions and strategic client needs. This role will be field-based with travel requirements to our Head Office in Basildon.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and execute a national business development strategy to achieve ambitious revenue and EBITDA targets.
* Lead and grow major client accounts like Government Departments, Environmental Project Developer.
* Oversee the creation of compelling technical proposals, identifying subject matter experts and managing complex bid budgets.
* Mentor and scale a high-performing business development and customer success team.
* Lead high-value contract negotiations and renewals to ensure favourable commercial terms.
* Develop a network and promote the business (eg. Attend trade shows and/or industry conferences).
Requirements & Qualifications
* 15+ years of proven success in B2B sales or strategic business development within environmental consultancy or engineering.
* Bachelor’s degree or above in Business, Engineering, or a related environmental field.
* Understanding of UK environmental regulations, waste management, or large-scale infrastructure projects.
* Demonstrated ability to influence at C-suite level and lead multi-disciplinary teams.
* Excellent influencing, communication and strong negotiation skills with an ability to demonstrate appropriate business acumen and commercial awareness.
* Strong financial literacy with experience in pipeline forecasting and managing profit drivers.
* Willingness to travel across the UK for client meetings and industry events.
* Candidate have less experience will be considered as Business Development Manager.
