We own and manage our entire supply chain from farms to factory to the customer door, with major processing sites across England and an agricultural network of over 350 farms spanning from North Yorkshire to the South Coast and Wales.
What you’ll do
This is a strategic and leadership-focused role, overseeing how the CMMS supports business goals. The CMMS Systems Manager is responsible for the optimization and continuous improvement of the CMMS and ensuring the system is effectively utilized to support maintenance operations, asset management, and compliance requirements. The ideal candidate will have strong technical and engineering expertise, experience in system implementation and integration, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams. This is an office-based role with a vital part in supporting day-to-day operations in the Technology Team.
Working hours: Monday – Friday, 08:00 – 17:00.
Key responsibilities
* Strategy and Planning: Ensure system compliance with industry regulations and company policies; identify gaps in current maintenance processes and suggest tech-based solutions; define KPIs and performance metrics; develop a roadmap for CMMS improvements and system upgrades; lead CMMS integration planning with other enterprise systems (ERP, EAM); benchmark CMMS effectiveness against industry standards.
* Team Leadership: Oversee the daily operations of the CMMS, including system configuration, troubleshooting, and user support; liaise with vendors to customize features or resolve issues; present findings and reports to senior management and board executives.
* Stakeholder Engagement: Work with maintenance, operations, and Technology teams to align CMMS functionality with business needs; organize workshops to understand user needs and pain points; communicate system updates and changes to stakeholders.
* Process Optimisation: Analyse work order patterns, equipment histories, and downtime reports; suggest automation of repetitive tasks; implement predictive maintenance where feasible; standardize data entry and maintenance request procedures; optimise asset tagging, categorization, and lifecycle tracking.
* Budget & Vendor Management: Develop annual budgets for CMMS licenses, support, and enhancements; negotiate service contracts and renewals with CMMS providers; evaluate ROI and cost-benefit of upgrades; track spending and ensure compliance with financial policies; maintain vendor relationships and monitor SLAs.
* Ultimo Project Support: Build positive working relationships with all Avara sites; attend workshops and project meetings on Teams or on-site where relevant; foster consistency across naming conventions and code structures.
What you’ll need to be successful
Essential
* Strong understanding of maintenance operations and asset management principles.
* Experience with system integration, database management, and reporting tools.
* Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
* Ability to lead training sessions and support a diverse user base.
* Ability to work effectively and make informed decisions under pressure.
* Ability to build working relationships across functions, multiple sites and with suppliers.
* Able to communicate technical topics to non-technical colleagues.
* Competency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
* Experience with system implementation and upgrade projects.
* Able to critically question requests for system changes.
Desirable
* Experience with regulatory compliance and audit processes related to maintenance systems.
* Experience in a Microsoft Platforms environment (Office 365).
* Exposure to multi-site manufacturing and distribution in a food environment.
* SQL or other relational database querying experience.
* Formal change management methodologies.
* Production and maintenance of systems and training documentation.
