This post is a specialised position within a multidisciplinary team comprising Neurophysiology and Diagnostic Sleep Physiology. It involves maintaining and contributing to excellent standards of patient care, particularly in Neurophysiology, and supporting growth and development to improve diagnostic procedures for patients referred from tertiary care, outpatient and inpatient settings, as well as primary care. The post may require cross-site work.
You will work in a multidisciplinary team providing outpatient and inpatient Neurophysiological procedures, with responsibilities including training junior staff.
The department includes 3 Consultants, 1 Principal Clinical Neurophysiologist, 1 Highly Specialised Physiologist, 3 Specialised Physiologists, 3 physiologists, 4 sleep Physiologists, and an admin team.
* Providing outpatient clinics independently, performing and interpreting all modalities of Electroencephalography and Evoked Potential recordings, with continuous evaluation to ensure patient safety and quality.
* Performing all modalities of Electroencephalography and Evoked Potential recordings in non-dedicated environments, with ongoing assessment of patient status and emergency medical needs.
* Performing upper limb nerve conduction studies in outpatient clinics, ideally alongside Consultant Neurophysiologists.
* Analyzing and interpreting sleep diagnostic procedures, which is desirable.
* Setting up, issuing, downloading, analyzing, and interpreting multi-channel sleep studies, including instructing patients on home monitor setup, which is desirable.
* Staying updated with new guidelines relevant to the discipline.
The post holder will provide clinical governance to trainee physiologists and ensure patient and staff safety in accordance with Trust policies and health and safety legislation, reporting potential risks as appropriate.
