We're looking for an experienced Power System Design Lead to take a technically leading role in the electrical aspects of electronic hardware design, with a particular focus on end-to-end power system design. What you'll be doing As our Power System Design Lead, you'll apply deep technical expertise across the full design lifecycle, from concept through to verification and customer integration. Your key responsibilities will include: Design of AC & DC power generation and distribution systems including sizing, protection, control, and the specification of power supplies and converters. This covers design and/or specification of an electrical supply system from 440V AC to circuit board voltage rails.Motor drives, control, and positioning systemsEMC management and verificationSpecification of bespoke procured hardware and management of associated sub-contractor development programmesDesign verification using a combination of simulation, analysis, and test techniques including support to EMC test houses and customer installationsProvide Electrical Engineering expertise to the project team. Key Skills Specification or design of electrical power systems including AC to DC conversion, distribution, regulation and conditioning including linear and switch-mode suppliesPrevious experience of operating in a defence or high safety integrity environmentExperience with Early lifecycle involvement - contribute to product development, lifecycle, and qualificationExperience with Switch-mode power supply design and integration.Appreciation of methods, techniques, and technologies for AC/DC conversion and distribution, understand challenges in distributing power and designing power modules.
