This is an exciting opportunity for a doctor committed to working with patients who have substance use problems and the multifaceted clinical and psychosocial issues involved. The post-holder will have a 6-month probationary period as a Clinical Fellow, working under the supervision of a Consultant trainer, gaining competencies to work in Addictions Psychiatry. Upon successful completion and evidence of competency attainment, the doctor will transition to the role of Specialty Doctor in Addictions Psychiatry.
Location: West Sussex
Hours: Full time, 37.5 hours per week
Salary: £65,000 (based on full-time hours, pro-rata for part-time)
Responsibilities:
1. Provide clinical assessments, including psychiatric and physical investigations, of a wide range of substance users presenting to the service.
2. Initiate appropriate prescribing regimes under consultant supervision, following national legislation and guidance.
3. Support nursing staff to safely titrate patients onto treatment regimes and review procedures to promote evidence-based practice.
4. Attend monthly Doctors' Meetings, which include CPD, complex case discussions, and other CPD activities.
5. Support research activities beneficial to future patient treatment.
6. Establish effective communication and working relationships with relevant agencies.
7. Participate in clinical audits and governance activities.
Minimum Requirements:
* Medical Degree and completion of Basic Medical Training with full GMC UK Registration and Licence to Practice.
* Experience working in multidisciplinary teams and with partner agencies.
* Effective communication skills and ability to maintain professional boundaries.
