Sitting with the 2nd line of defence division, the successful candidate will assist the business in complying with financial crime legislation and regulation, ensuring that appropriate controls are in place and evidenced, to mitigate the financial crime risks presented across Target Group, as required by the MLRO.
What does the role of Financial Crime Oversight Manager look like day to day?
* Draft credible business-wide financial crime risk-assessments and control testing to identify and assess key inherent and residual financial crime risks, and to make recommendations for improvement in the risk environment where necessary.
* Work with colleagues to design solutions that positively impact maturity of internal/client controls.
* Continually assess effectiveness of financial crime systems and controls against regulatory requirements and make recommendations for change, where appropriate.
* Contribute to design and delivery of Target Group’s mandatory and bespoke training materials.
* Produce periodic and other relevant reports and management information, based on business risk, control and performance outputs.
* Identify and assess applicable financial crime-related legislation, regulation, best practice and financial crime typologies, to help shape the design, standards and controls associated with the firm’s internal financial crime risk framework and methodologies.
* Maintain Target’s financial crime policy portfolio.
* Engage with offshore stakeholders as required, to support promotion and/or integration of financial crime services and to provide SME advice and guidance.
* Identify and highlight trends in MI, to provide focus on those aspects of activity that require increased risk management and attention from senior leadership team.
* Prepare financial crime regulatory mapping and reporting returns, ensuring timely and accurate delivery, for MLRO approval and sign off.
* Conduct assurance reviews in accordance with the financial crime plan, producing independent reports, escalating any area of concern with recommendations for remedial action and tracking stakeholder actions through to delivery.
* Provide specialist support with the onboarding of new clients and client acquisition activities
* Provide financial crime guidance and support for Oversight team members, assisting in their overall development and growth.
* Act as Nominated Officer, having delegated authority to review and submit reports externally to the National Crime Agency.
The role is primarily remote, however you will be asked to attend our Cardiff or Newport office when required
What experience are we looking for?
* An understanding of relevant Financial Crime laws and regulations impacting the UK.
* Proficient technical knowledge in financial crime risk domains (KYC, CDD, AML, CTF, proliferation financing, sanctions, fraud, bribery, corruption, and tax evasion).
* A track record of developing and managing high performing, highly motivated teams.
* Experience of producing assurance and other financial crime reports that serve to educate stakeholders with respect to status of the current risk environment, whilst guiding them as to the actions that must be delivered to reduce risk.
* Experience of critiquing effectiveness and adequacy of financial crime processes and controls and driving control improvements where required.
* Experience of rolling out new technology platforms within the Financial Crime space, including project participation, development of system rules and management of operational outputs.
* A Financial Crime Qualification is advantageous.
