Support Worker - Supported Living
We are seeking a compassionate Support Worker to provide personalised care and companionship, helping an individual maintain independence at home.
Overview
Position: Support Worker / Carer
Salary: £13.25 per hour (increasing to £13.80 from 1st April)
Location: Harrold, Bedfordshire
Hours: Part time, live-in pattern (one week on, one week off)
Contract: Permanent
About the Role
This is a rewarding opportunity to support an individual living in a rural village setting who has Parkinson's and requires day-to-day assistance at home. You will work closely with their partner to provide high quality, person centred care.
Key responsibilities include:
Supporting with medication and personal care including continence
Assisting with meal preparation, including cooking traditional homemade meals
Providing companionship and emotional support
Supporting with mobility and gentle exercise
Assisting with hydration and general wellbeing
Helping with light household tasks
Providing occasional night support where required
You will typically work a 10 hour day with a 2 hour break, with flexibility required to meet the individual's needs.
About You
We are looking for someone who is kind, patient and reliable, with a genuine passion for supporting others.
You will ideally have:
Experience in a care or support role
A compassionate and respectful approach
Confidence supporting individuals with mobility needs
Ability to cook simple, nutritious meals
Flexibility to work a live-in rota
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
