Splendid Healthcare are looking for a Head of Nursing & Clinical Risk member to join their team They will be based in our head office in Warnham, Horsham and also around our 3 care homes in West Sussex. This role is for 40 hours a week.

Role Purpose:

The Head of Nursing provides professional nursing leadership across the Care Division, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, compassionate and high-quality care in line with regulatory requirements and best practice.

The role is responsible for setting and maintaining nursing standards, supporting clinical quality, and providing expert oversight and assurance across nursing-led services. The postholder will act as the Group's senior nursing voice, working closely with operational, quality and leadership teams to embed a strong, consistent clinical culture.

This is a senior, hands-on role suited to an experienced registered nurse with strong leadership capability and a deep understanding of regulated care environments.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Leadership & Professional Practice

* Act as the senior professional nursing lead across the Care Division.

* Ensure nursing practice aligns with NMC standards, professional codes of conduct and evidence-based best practice.

* Provide visible clinical leadership, promoting high standards of care, professionalism and accountability.

* Act as a source of expert clinical advice and support to operational and care teams.

* Support the developing of nurses to become prescribers in their own right

* In collaboration with Primary Care professionals and local Medicine Optimisation teams, carry our medicine reviews routinely across all services, and when appropriate, prescribe, medicines for end of life care in particular

Quality, Safety & Risk

* Provide oversight and assurance on clinical quality and resident/service user safety across services.

* Lead the Clinical Risk Management for the division, creating clinical risk registers to form part of the division wide risk register alongside the Director of Quality/department leads.

* Support services to identify, manage and mitigate clinical risks.

* Review incidents, safeguarding concerns and complaints relating to nursing practice, ensuring learning and improvement.

* Contribute to clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives and action plans.

Regulatory & Compliance

* Support compliance with CQC (and other relevant regulator) requirements, particularly in relation to Safe, Effective and Well-Led domains.

* Support services through inspections, responding to feedback and ensuring improvement plans are implemented.

* Ensure nursing documentation, governance and oversight arrangements meet regulatory expectations.

Workforce & Capability

* Support the recruitment, retention and development of nursing staff across the Division.

* Contribute to workforce planning, skill mix and professional development strategies.

* Provide professional supervision, coaching and support to senior nurses and clinical leaders.

* Promote a positive, open and learning-focused culture.

Governance & Assurance

* Contribute to clinical governance structures, reporting on nursing quality and risks as required.

* Support the development and review of nursing-related policies, procedures and guidelines.

* Work collaboratively with quality, risk and operational teams to provide assurance to senior leadership and the Board.

Collaboration & Leadership

* Work closely with operational leaders to balance quality, safety and service delivery.

* Build strong relationships with external stakeholders, including regulators, commissioners and professional bodies where appropriate.

* Act as a role model for the Group's values and behaviours.

Person Specification

Essential

* Registered Nurse with an up-to-date PIN with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).

* Minimum of 5 years post-registration clinical experience.

* Significant experience working in regulated care environments (e.g. care homes, healthcare or social care services).

* Proven experience in a nursing leadership or senior clinical role.

* NMC approved V300 Independent Prescribing qualification.

* Strong understanding of clinical governance, quality and patient safety.

* Confident working with senior leaders and supporting regulatory processes.

* Experience working across multiple sites or services.

Desirable

* Experience supporting services through CQC inspections.

* Postgraduate qualification in leadership, management or clinical specialty.

* Experience contributing to organisational quality or transformation programmes.
