This Environmental Health Officer role is part of the Public Protection Service at Westmorland and Furness Council, focusing on Food Safety, Health and Safety, Port Health and Public Health Registrations.
Location and Contract
Location: Barrow locality. Contract type: Permanent.
Responsibilities
* Undertake regulatory activities including health protection, infection control, health and safety at work, food safety and integrity, and port health.
* Manage own caseload of primarily Food Safety and Health and Safety work, including proactive and reactive inspections, complaint investigations, and service requests.
Qualifications and Competencies
* Qualified Environmental Health Practitioner with a diploma, BSc, or MSc in Environmental Health.
* EHRB registered or equivalent.
* Current competence as outlined in the Food Law Code of Practice.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to negotiate and influence at all levels.
* Ability to work independently while maintaining a customer‑focused approach to service delivery.
Travel Requirements
Regular travel around Westmorland and Furness is required; the postholder must be able to drive and have access to a vehicle for work.
