The Role
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the Financial Controller will take ownership of all financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting, compliance, and effective financial management across multiple live projects.
This is a hands-on, commercial role suited to a finance professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced, project-driven environment and partnering closely with operational teams.
Key Responsibilities:
* Full ownership of the day-to-day finance function, including management accounts, reporting, and cash flow management.
* Preparation of monthly management information, budgets, and forecasts.
* Oversight of project costing, job profitability, and WIP analysis.
* Supporting commercial teams with financial data to inform project decisions.
* Managing relationships with auditors, HMRC, and external advisors.
* Ensuring compliance with CIS, VAT, and other industry-specific financial regulations.
* Developing and improving financial systems, controls, and reporting processes.
* Leading and mentoring the finance team to maintain high performance and accountability.
About You
We’re looking for a qualified or QBE accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) with strong experience gained within the construction or civil engineering sector, ideally with exposure to RC Frame, Groundworks, or similar subcontracting environments.
You’ll bring:
* Solid understanding of construction finance, including CIS, retentions, and applications for payment.
* Proven ability to produce accurate management accounts and forecasts.
