Blaymires Recruitment is representing an established, family-run construction and manufacturing business that is seeking a Timber Frame Designer or CAD Designer to join the business.
The company has been operating successfully for over 40 years and delivers a diverse range of projects, including high-end residential homes, church halls, village halls, nurseries, school classrooms, and self-contained granny annexes, with project values typically ranging from £100k to £3m.
This is an exciting opportunity for a Timber Frame Designer to join a growing and forward-thinking timber frame business. This role offers flexibility (part-time or full-time) and the chance to work on a varied mix of domestic and commercial timber frame projects using modern methods of construction.
The company will consider a CAD Designer who has construction experience.
The Role
You will be responsible for producing high-quality CAD designs that meet contract requirements, quality standards, and cost targets. Working closely with the Operations Manager, you will develop detailed designs for floor, wall, and roof panels, enabling accurate manufacture within a factory environment.
You may also support the sales process by collaborating with the Sales Manager to develop customer enquiries, including site layouts, floor plans, and 3D visuals to aid project understanding and accurate costing.
Key Responsibilities
* Produce detailed timber frame designs using AutoCAD
* Create accurate drawings for floor, wall, and roof panel manufacture
* Liaise closely with operations to ensure buildability and efficiency
* Support sales enquiries with technical input, drawings, and visualisations
* Maintain drawing standards aligned with quality and cost targets
* Work collaboratively with colleagues, customers, subcontractors, and suppliersStay up to date with advancements in design software and construction technology
About You
* Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD (essential)
* Experience in timber frame design or a related construction/design background
* Good understanding of technical detailing and manufacturing processes
* Knowledge of UK Building Regulations preferred (training provided if needed) xxuwjjq
* Experience with Revit would be an advantage
* Confident using Microsoft Office for documentation
* Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team-focused approach
* Detail-oriented with a passion for timber frame construction
