We’re looking for a proactive and enthusiastic Health & Safety Advisor to join our team at B&M’s Fort Distribution Centre in Bedford, reporting directly to the Health & Safety Manager. This role operates on a rotational shift pattern of four days on and four days off, alternating between night and day shifts.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone currently in a Health & Safety administrative or similar role who’s ready to take the next step in their H&S career within a fast‑paced retail logistics environment.
In this role, your day‑to‑day will include:
* Investigating and recording incidents, accidents, complaints, and cases of ill health.
* Supporting the wider H&S team with information and documentation gathering for authority or civil cases.
* Undertaking site inspections and risk assessments as directed.
* Ensuring equipment is installed and maintained safely and correctly, in line with relevant processes.
* Identifying hazards, observing working practices, and recommending corrective measures.
* Assisting with the creation and review of internal Health & Safety policies and strategies.
* Maintaining accurate data capture processes and compiling regular reports and statistics.
* Supporting the organisation of Health & Safety meetings and training sessions.
* Assisting the H&S Manager with communication and liaison with relevant authorities.
* Keeping up to date with current Health & Safety legislation and ensuring ongoing compliance.
* Always acting as a visible and approachable H&S ambassador on site.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* Experience in Health & Safety Admin/Advisor role (or similar)
* IOSH or NEBOSH qualified (Full training pathway can be provided)
* Competent IT skills, with confidence using Microsoft Excel
* The ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, operational environment
* Excellent time management and communication skills – both written and verbal
* Experience within a retail environment is preferred but not essential
