Role: Lecturer – Motor Vehicle

Location: Central Bedfordshire College – Various CBC sites

Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £33,048 and £38,169 per annum DOE and Qualifications, 45 days annual leave plus Bank holidays, Teacher’s Pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses. Note – Salary and annual leave entitlement is for that of a Qualified Lecturer.

This is a UK based contract, and you are required to have the Right to Work in the UK. Unfortunately, we’re unable to offer sponsorship and any offer of employment will be subject to evidence of your Right to Work in the UK.


About the role

We are currently seeking a Lecturer in Motor Vehicle to join our Motor Vehicle department at The Bedford College Group.

As a Lecturer, you play an important role in the success of our students through:

* Teaching, Learning & Life Skills Delivery – Deliver engaging, practical teaching across Motor Vehicle programmes (Levels 1–3), integrating real‑world skills and promoting learner progression and success.
* Curriculum Planning & Resource Development – Plan schemes of work, create differentiated learning activities and prepare resources that meet awarding body standards and support varied learner needs.
* Assessment, Progress & Learner Support – Monitor attendance and progress, assess learner performance, provide constructive feedback and implement interventions to support achievement and development.
* Classroom Management, Safety & Practical Delivery – Maintain a safe, well‑managed learning environment, enforce behaviour expectations, conduct risk assessments and ensure effective use of workshop resources.
* Professional Practice, Collaboration & Compliance – Contribute to course development, marketing and events, work collaboratively with stakeholders, and uphold safeguarding, EDI, health & safety and CPD responsibilities.


About you

* Qualifications, Vocational Skills & Industry Expertise – Level 3 qualification in a relevant subject with Level 2 English and maths, supported by current industry experience and up‑to‑date technical knowledge.
* Teaching, Delivery & Learner Engagement – Able to deliver engaging teaching across vocational areas and levels using varied approaches, motivating learners and supporting achievement and progression.
* Assessment, Quality & Health & Safety – Knowledge of assessment practices and industry quality standards, with strong application of health and safety principles in practical learning environments.
* Communication, Organisation & Teamwork – Strong interpersonal and organisational skills, able to manage time effectively, work collaboratively and build positive relationships with learners and colleagues.
* Professional Values, CPD & Flexibility – Committed to continuous professional development, safeguarding and professional boundaries, with a flexible approach to work and dedication to learner success.
