Field Services Engineer (1st & 2nd Line Support)
Location: Skelmersdale | Monthly travel to Manchester | Occasional UK & NI travel

We are recruiting a Field Services Engineer to provide high-quality 1st and 2nd Line IT support for our clients across the North West. This role is primarily based in Skelmersdale with regular travel to Manchester and occasional UK-wide site visits. You will troubleshoot hardware, software, network, and telecommunications issues both remotely and on-site, ensuring minimal disruption to customer operations.
The Role
* Provide 1st and 2nd Line support across hardware, software, networking, and telecoms.
* Diagnose and resolve issues with laptops, desktops, mobile devices, printers, and peripherals.
* Support Windows OS, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, and enterprise applications.
* Install, configure, and maintain telecommunications systems including VoIP and mobile device management.
* Use ITSM tools (ServiceNow, Remedy, Jira) to manage incidents and requests.
* Troubleshoot network technologies such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, and LAN/WAN.
* Escalate issues when required and ensure timely resolution.
* Maintain accurate documentation of support activity.
* Work with internal teams and third-party vendors to resolve complex IT and telecoms issues.
* Travel to client sites to provide on-site support as needed.
* Deliver excellent customer service and build strong, trusted relationships.
What we’re looking for
* Experience in a 1st or 2nd Line IT support role.
* Strong understanding of Windows OS, Microsoft 365, and Active Directory.
* Knowledge of networking technologies including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, and LAN/WAN.
* Familiarity with VoIP, mobile networks, and unified communication systems.
* Proficiency with ITSM tools such as ServiceNow, Remedy, or Jira Service Management.
* Strong communication skills and a customer-first mindset.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
* Full UK driving licence required due to travel requirements.
Education
* Minimum: Level 3 qualification in IT or related field (BTEC, NVQ, equivalent).
* Preferred: Higher education in IT, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
