Job overview

Applications are invited for the role of Associate Dean responsible for Supported Return to Training (SuppoRTT) in the South West Region.

This is a senior educator role in the new WT&E structure for 1 session (4 hours) and is appointed on either a secondment basis from their employing Trust or a substantive appointment if the candidate works in Primary Care.


Main duties of the job

The ideal candidate will be an experienced clinician with substantial experience working with learners or doctors in training in an educational context. They will possess strong leadership and communication skills and work effectively as part of a multi-professional team.

Working with the SuppoRTT Champions across the South West, the post holder will develop a programme to support learners' safe and supported return to work by providing a wide range of learning and support resources.

Key responsibilities include:

* Collaborating closely with SuppoRTT champions, managing the network, appraisals, CPD, new appointments
* Maintaining and curating the SuppoRTT website
* Managing discretionary funding, including evaluating requests and ensuring quality assurance of expenditure
* Implementing coaching and buddying schemes
* Regional Fellow recruitment and supervision

Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend at least 40% of their time working in person.

NHS England holds a Sponsor Licence, which may enable sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route, requiring a salary of at least £38,700 or the job's going rate. More details are available on the Government website.

Qualifications

* Primary clinical healthcare qualification
* Participation in courses supporting educational development (e.g., educator courses, mentorship, supervision, Train the Trainer)
* Postgraduate qualification such as a diploma or Masters in Clinical Education


Knowledge and Experience

* Significant experience in clinical and educational leadership at regional or national levels, including managing a multi-professional team
* Proven track record of service and educational delivery, with understanding of relevant developments
* Knowledge of relevant Colleges/Faculties, professional bodies, NHS organisations, and regulatory bodies


Skills, Capabilities, and Attributes

* Leadership skills with the ability to influence and motivate
* Strong interpersonal, communication, written, and presentation skills
* Ability to establish credibility quickly with colleagues and stakeholders
