You will join an established team of Ground Engineers in the South‑East region, based in the AECOM Croydon (preferably) or Aldgate Office, working closely with colleagues across the UK & Ireland.
Responsibilities
* Manage delivery tasks, ensuring technical quality and adherence to budget and programme.
* Provide technical expertise in team/client reviews, owning decisions and proposing alternative ideas.
* Maintain high levels of client satisfaction, support fee proposals and bids.
* Mentor junior staff and oversee personal and professional development.

The role suits a candidate with experience in geotechnical design, capable of independent work, supporting junior team members, budgeting/programme deliverables, and providing geotechnical input from desk study to final design.

Qualifications
* BEng / MEng in Civil Engineering or BSc and/or MSc in Geotechnical Engineering.
* Chartered Engineer (IEng/CEng) status desirable or plan to achieve it.
* Good knowledge of UK ground conditions and investigation practices.
* Understanding of current design codes, standards, and best practices in geotechnical design.
* Ability to collaborate closely in project delivery and maintain client satisfaction.
* Knowledge of ground condition interpretation/parametric assessment and correlation methods.
* Familiarity with data management software (e.g., gINT, Open Ground).
* Experience in geotechnical design (earthworks, foundations, retaining structures, slope stabilisation) and design software (e.g., Slope/W, Wallap).
* Familiarity with production of geotechnical analysis and design packages, including drawings, risk assessments, specifications and reports.
* Application of CDM Regulations / Safety in Design.
* Experience with standards and processes in specialised fields (e.g., highways, railways).
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Experience in design, specification and management of ground investigation (remote and field).
* Clean driving licence.
* Willingness to travel throughout the UK.
