Principal Conservation Officer
Working at a senior level within the Planning Development Team, you will play a key role in delivering an effective conservation service covering all aspects of the preservation and enhancement of the historic environment.
You will be a highly motivated individual with a passion for the historic environment, capable of working under challenging timescales. You'll be the lead officer for the Council in the provision of expert conservation advice in connection with planning matters affecting heritage assets including Listed Buildings, non-designated heritage assets and Conservation Areas.
You will be responsible for contributing to complex planning and Listed Building applications, appeals, any related enforcement investigations, as well as providing consultation responses to the Development Management Team and providing input to developing policy in respect of the historic built environment.
Supporting the Assistant Planning Manager, you will be responsible for managing individual performance and supervising team members in terms of their direction and performance. You'll also be able to demonstrate an ability to communicate effectively with and gain the confidence of, local communities, elected Members, staff and stakeholders. You will have experience in all aspects of built environment conservation work, including Listed Buildings, Conservation Areas, Conservation Area Appraisal Reviews and Buildings at Risk.
