About the role
The Leverhulme Centre for Humanity and Space (LCHS), based at Space Park Leicester, is seeking a Research Associate to join its pioneering interdisciplinary team. With funding of up to £10 million over ten years, the Centre is transforming how we understand space through the lens of the arts, humanities and social sciences. The successful candidate will undertake independent research projects aligned within Nuclear Energy and Space. You will be supported with mentorship, seed funding, and opportunities for professional development, impact and leadership. We are particularly looking for applications that seek to examine the intersection of nuclear power, energy, weapons and space. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a vibrant intellectual community working alongside scientists, start-ups and policy bodies. You will be expected to work in person at Space Park Leicester for at least 60% of your working week. About you
You will hold a PhD in a relevant arts, humanities or social science discipline and be at an early stage of your academic career. You should demonstrate a strong interest in interdisciplinary research related to space and have experience in conducting independent research, with evidence of productivity through publications or presentations. Your proposed project should align within the the intersection of nuclear power, energy, and weapons and space. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential, along with the ability to work collaboratively and independently. You will be proactive in planning and delivering your research, engaging with internal and external stakeholders, and contributing to the Centre’s dynamic environment.
