Role

We are seeking a Manager to lead our Economic Crime Unit (ECU), part of the National Environmental Crime Unit (NECU). The successful candidate will lead a specialist team dedicated to removing the financial benefit from criminals.

As ECU Manager you will undertake varied and interesting work. You will be the strategic lead for the way we manage financial investigations ensuring we are fulfilling our obligations under the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA). You’ll be proactive with a strong focus on continually improving and enhancing the way we work.

You’ll manage two Team Leaders (Asset Denial Team and Money Laundering Investigation Team) and a Senior Financial Intelligence Officer. You will provide strong leadership, motivating and developing your team and managing performance and delivery.

This role requires collaboration with internal teams (Investigatory Teams, Intelligence & Partnerships, Legal) and external partners (Police, National Crime Agency, HMRC). You’ll influence at senior levels to support EA priorities with external enforcement agencies.

Alongside ECU duties, you will support the wider organisation in improving how we work and increasing understanding of POCA. You will share lessons learned, input into changes to technical documentation and advise other enforcement officers nationwide.


Team

The Economic Crime Unit is made up of two teams – Asset Denial Team and Money Laundering Investigations Team. Teams include Financial Investigators, Financial Intelligence Officers and Crime Analysts. The unit is nationally dispersed and handles serious criminality involving organised crime networks.


Experience/Skills Required

* Exceptional leadership skills, ideally with experience leading a dispersed team. Understanding of financial investigations and the Proceeds of Crime Act.
* Experience in law enforcement and understanding of the National Intelligence Model.
* Effective communication including delivering feedback, managing performance and building relationships with external stakeholders.
* Ability to work under pressure and prioritise a varied workload.
* Ability to identify areas for improvement and lead changes to working practices.
* Ability to develop and enhance the capability of a team and the individuals within it.
