Your new company
Our client is a pre-revenue biotechnology and medical devices business with secure investment and a pipeline of programmes for its unique product.
Your new role
Reporting to the CEO and managing an Assistant Accountant, you will lead the management of the finance function and finance processes, produce budget forecasts, cash flows and sensitivity analysis, for routine cash control, grant applications and funding rounds.
This extremely broad and varied role will include maintaining accurate budgets and forecasts, including the shareholder loan facility, and proactively forecasting for work packages, as well as monitoring actual expenditure against the budget and making necessary reforecasts and adjustments. You will monitor cash flows and prepare forecasts recommending necessary adjustments to optimise cash and produce and report on the Monthly Accounts to Senior Management.
As Financial Controller, you will have control of accounting ledgers and produce monthly management accounts in line with the reporting timetable and constantly review the accounting processes, suggest improvements and implement changes. You will assist with the financial strategy of the company, including support for suitable grant funding opportunities together with additional equity and debt funding rounds, prepare project grant spend analysis, submit to provider and liaise with project auditors.
Preparation of year-end financial statements and liaising with external auditors and of R&D tax credit claims are all part of the role.
What you'll need to succeed
The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant with experience of working in a similar role. You will have modelling skills for deal values and sales forecasts and be a well-organised and strong communicator. Knowledge of Quickbooks or a similar accounting system is advantageous, along with a proactive approach.
