The Person

If you meet the essential qualification criteria outlined below, wed like to hear from you:

* You must be educated to SCQF level 9 which includes a degree, or equivalent, in Occupational Therapy.
* Registered with Health and Care Professions council (HCPC).
* Significant relevant post qualification experience with evidence of transferable skills.
* Effective communication skills and evidence of capacity to use expert clinical reasoning to; make independent decisions; accept responsibility for actions and use initiative within parameters of responsibility.
* Before confirming to your appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland.


Job Details

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Practitioner, Occupational Therapist based within the Community Occupational Therapy Team working with adults and older people in their home environments. The successful applicant will be responsible for undertaking outcome focused assessments to identify intervention that will maintain/promote optimum independence and reduce risk as appropriate to individuals.

The successful candidate will be required to demonstrate the ability to work autonomously particularly within complex situations and able to evidence advanced clinical reasoning skills within all aspects of Occupational Therapy. Extensive experience working within a community setting is essential as well as good leadership skills and the ability to support and motivate staff through changes in practice.

The candidate will be required to lead on specific service development activities such as specific needs housing, building design, manual handling, and postural management. The Community Occupational Therapy teams have an integral role within the Health and Social Care partnership in supporting and maintaining vulnerable individuals within their own communities and homes.

To facilitate this, we work in partnership with a range of other stakeholders, both formal and informal. Therefore, excellent communication skills are essential as well as the ability to demonstrate a flexible approach and experience of working collaboratively to maximise positive outcomes for individuals.
