Senior/Principal Electrical Engineer
Long term contract
Hybrid – Remote / On-site (Scotland)
Security Clearance: SC required
Position Hours: 40 hours
The role
The Electrical Engineer will form part of a multi-disciplinary team responsible for the authorship, assessment, and maintenance of engineering design substantiation for high-hazard facilities. The work supports both day-to-day operations and longer-term programmes across multiple sites.
Disciplines within the team include Mechanical, Civil, Structural, Building Services, Electrical and Naval Architecture. The role ensures that design intent, safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance are consistently upheld.
Key Tasks
* Create, review and maintain engineering design substantiation documentation.
* Present technical justifications to internal safety and governance panels.
* Develop and update EIMT schedules, procedures and supporting evidence.
* Contribute to Periodic Review of Safety reports.
* Provide technical guidance to project teams and stakeholders.
* Prepare scopes for Independent Technical Assessment (ITA) and Peer Review (IPR).
* Apply engineering expertise to integrate new and existing technologies.
* Produce clear technical justifications for electrical design changes.
* Review contractor reports, safety case inputs and technical submissions.
Requirements
* Experienced Electrical Engineer with HV/LV plant and machinery knowledge (pumps, generators, control systems).
* Solid understanding of UK/European electrical design standards.
* Skilled across concept, detailed, and construction design stages
* Experience assessing electrical equipment against hazards.
* Proven ability to produce technical justifications for design changes in high-hazard environments.
* Track record working on multi-disciplinary engineering projects.
QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING
Essential:
• Minimum HNC (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline.
• Incorporated Engineer status or equivalent proven experience.
