Your new company You will be working for a well-established organisation based in Birmingham City Centre. Your new role As an Interim Client Accountant, you will play a key role in managing financial operations for a diverse portfolio of clients from the Birmingham office. You'll take ownership of day-to-day financial transactions, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and high levels of client service. Responsibilities include performing regular reconciliations of client funds, managing payment runs in line with contractual deadlines, and allocating tenant cash receipts. You will prepare monthly contract accounts and reports, respond promptly and professionally to internal and external queries, and help manage shared inboxes. Alongside your core portfolio responsibilities, you'll contribute to one-off projects and support colleagues as needed, making you a valued member of a collaborative team of eight professionals locally. What you'll need to succeed To be successful in this role, you'll have prior experience within a busy finance environment, either in industry or practice, and be confident managing your own workload both independently and as part of a team. You can be part-qualified, studying towards a professional qualification, or nearing completion. You'll have experience managing client portfolios, building strong relationships, and reporting directly to clients. A solid understanding of client money handling regulations and financial controls is essential, with experience of the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) being advantageous. Strong communication, organisation, and time management skills are key, alongside excellent attention to detail and accuracy. You'll take a proactive, enthusiastic approach, with strong analytical and numerical abilities. A collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively with colleagues across departments are crucial, as is a high level of IT literacy - particularly in Microsoft Excel.
