Overview
As part of a multidisciplinary/multiagency team, the post holder will manage a highly specialist or complex caseload, using evidence‑based practice and client‑centred principles to assess, plan and implement care, provide expert advice and support, operating within a defined specialism across NHS Lanarkshire.
Lead or manage the development and implementation of a programme of quality improvement, clinical audit and research activity.
Lead the supervision, education and development of multidisciplinary team members.
Provide effective leadership within the scope of the role.
Responsibilities
Manage highly specialist or complex caseloads in heart failure, deliver evidence-based care, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
Qualifications
* Registered Healthcare practitioner with valid UK Registration (NMC / HCPC).
* Educated to or working towards a Masters Level degree.
* Postgraduate expertise within specialty/area of practice that demonstrates breadth of knowledge required to lead safely, effectively and efficiently.
* Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the specialty.
* Advanced specialist knowledge and experience of relevant conditions, pathology, policies and procedures associated with the area of practice, ensuring that the level of expertise can be utilised to deliver leadership within the specialty.
* Evidence of application of advanced practice skills and clinical judgement within the specialty.
* Evidence of further developed knowledge and experience in management and/or leadership.
* Further education and evidence of Continuous Professional Development in the area of specialist, including study days, courses or postgraduate qualifications.
* Excellent teamwork, leadership skills and the ability to motivate and influence others using own initiative.
* Excellent listening, communication and interpersonal skills and effective time‑management skills.
* Working knowledge of basic information technology.
* Car driver with a full, valid UK/EU/EEA licence.
* Willingness to travel across North and South Lanarkshire.
* May include independent and supplementary prescribing where relevant to the role, in accordance with legal framework and defined service need.
Preferred
* Master’s Degree in area of specialty &/or management.
* Management qualification or equivalent gained through experience and CPD.
* Non‑medical prescriber.
* Clinical Assessment Skills Module.
* Previous experience of leading a nursing team within the specialty.
* Previous experience of collaborating with multiple clinical teams including Acute Clinical Nurse Specialist Teams and GP teams.
* Previous experience of practice teams and community nursing teams.
* Previous experience of service development and quality improvement initiatives.
* Previous experience of providing education and training within the specialty to clinical staff and patients/carers.
* Previous experience of delivering presentations and group education to clinical staff.
* Demonstrated proactive approach to service development and innovative ways of working.
Contract type
Fixed Term or Secondment until 31/03/2026 – Full time, 37 hours, 7‑day rota.
Location and Working Pattern
Based in FNC+/Interface within Kirklands – NHSL Headquarters. Working pattern: over 7‑day rota. Shorter terms may be considered for similar vacancies in alternative locations.
