About Nucleome Therapeutics

We are unlocking the power of the human non-coding genome to drive breakthroughs in immune-mediated and complex diseases. We combine high-resolution maps of 3D genome architecture with functional genomics, advanced sequencing technologies, and computational innovation to reveal novel regulatory mechanisms and therapeutic targets.

The Role

We are seeking a Scientist/Senior Scientist Functional Genomics to join our growing team and play a key role in building 3D variant-to-gene maps across human disease. The role will allow you to continue evolving our state-of-the-art 3D genome Micro Capture-C (MCC) approach, which measures 3D genome interactions at unparalleled resolution, and help us generate foundational datasets to investigate new disease areas. It will also involve working closely with our computational and drug discovery teams to generate insights from the data and identify a new generation of drug targets via the regulatory genome.

This role is ideal for a functional genomics scientist with experience in 3D genomics assays or who has experience in parallel assays investigating the regulatory genome.

Key Responsibilities

* Design and implement studies generating 3D genomics datasets from primary human cells.
* Drive and optimise the next generation of technical advances within MCC and 3D genomics.
* Perform studies using other functional genomics approaches (e.g. ATAC-seq, RNA-seq, CRISPR) to support our variant-to-gene mapping approaches and early target validation projects.
* Partner with computational scientists to design experiments, define analysis requirements and ensure data generated is of high quality.
* Collaborate with AI / ML engineers on conceptualising models to predict 3D genome interactions.
* Provide and explain foundational datasets to support target discovery.
* Communicate results clearly to scientific and non-scientific audiences, influencing decision-making across discovery programmes.

Required Qualifications and Skills

Essential

* A PhD in functional genomics, a related discipline or equivalent industry experience.
* Demonstrable experience in one or more of the following assays: 3C based 3D genome assays, ATAC-seq, ChIP-seq or RNA-seq.
* Experience in NGS assay development or optimisation.
* Experience in working with primary cell types or other complex cellular systems.
* Ability to design and run high-quality experiments, interpret data, troubleshoot, and suggest next steps and identify alternative approaches.
* Ability to develop and improve new skills and knowledge necessary to successfully support assigned projects.
* Ability to work independently as well as thrive working in a multidisciplinary team.
* Strong communication skills and ability to communicate complex ideas to specialists and non-specialists.

Desirable

* Experience in GWAS and population genomics.
* Background in applying functional genomics techniques (or similar) to investigate disease biology.
* Knowledge of the drug-discovery process and/or industry experience.
* Development of NGS data analysis strategies and implementations.

Nucleome Therapeutics is an equal opportunity employer.
