PLC Control Systems Engineer
Our client is growing their in‑house Controls team and need an experienced Control Systems Engineer who can take ownership across the full lifecycle: design, PLC/HMI/SCADA development, FAT/SAT, and on‑site commissioning.
70% Office/ 30% site as needed by projects. UK travel to customer sites, factories, and FAT locations.

What You’ll Be Doing
* Designing and developing full control system packages (URS, FDS/DDS, I/O lists, C&E, test plans)
* Programming PLC/HMI/SCADA systems — Siemens TIA Portal, Allen Bradley/Studio 5000, WinCC/FactoryTalk
* Integrating generator controllers: DSE, ComAp, Woodward
* Leading FAT/SAT, loop testing, simulation, site commissioning
* Troubleshooting PLC, SCADA, comms networks, and industrial protocols
* Working hands‑on with protection relays, meters, UPS and BMS/EMS interfaces
* Ensuring compliance with IEC, SIL principles, PUWER, UKCA, ISO9001
* Mentoring junior engineers and improving our code libraries & standards
What You’ll Bring
* Strong PLC software development background (writing code from scratch)
* Experience with industrial power/control systems
* Understanding of VLANs, NAT, routing, Modbus/Profinet/EtherNetIP/OPC UA
* Ability to read electrical schematics and work closely with panel build teams
* Degree/HND in Electrical, Controls, Automation or similar (or equivalent experience)
* Full UK driving licence + ability to work on UK sites
