Job Title: Consultant Dermatologist at DMC
As a consultant dermatologist at DMC, you will work autonomously, providing specialist dermatological medical services to our patients. Your responsibilities include delivering high-quality clinical care in dermatology, adhering to the [GMS/PMS/APMS] contract, complying with GMC standards, and contributing to practice management and multidisciplinary team relationships.
Main duties and responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities:
1. Delivering high-quality dermatological care to entitled patients.
2. Providing specialized dermatological services in line with the [GMS/PMS/APMS] agreement.
3. Managing a wide range of skin conditions, including complex and chronic issues.
4. Engaging in dermatology clinics and advising general practitioners.
5. Handling administrative dermatology duties, such as referrals and medication management.
6. Performing dermatological procedures and surgeries as needed.
7. Maintaining accurate clinical records.
8. Collaborating with the dermatology and general practice teams.
9. Staying updated with dermatology advancements and implementing best practices.
10. Leading quality improvement initiatives in dermatology.
11. Overseeing dermatology aspects of QOF.
12. Participating in practice meetings and contributing to service development, governance, and training.
13. Ensuring compliance with dermatology standards in appraisals and revalidation.
14. Engaging in continuous professional development.
15. Supporting training of medical students and junior doctors.
16. Assisting partners in enhancing dermatological services and income.
17. Reviewing protocols and policies related to dermatology.
18. Promoting continuous improvement in dermatological care.
Secondary Responsibilities:
1. Participating in dermatology audits.
2. Engaging in initiatives to improve service delivery and patient care.
3. Reviewing significant dermatology events using structured approaches like RCA.
Personal Specification
Essential:
* Specialist Dermatology Qualification (e.g., Diploma in Dermatology).
* Experience managing diverse skin conditions, including complex cases.
* Full GMC Registration and inclusion on the National Performers List.
* Proficiency in dermatological procedures and pharmacotherapy.
* Experience in outpatient dermatology services.
* Commitment to evidence-based dermatology.
* Excellent clinical and communication skills.
* IT skills relevant to dermatology practice.
* Leadership and teamwork skills.
* Ongoing professional development in dermatology.
* Research or academic involvement is a plus.
* Legal entitlement to practice in the UK.
* Knowledge of QOF and experience in clinical audits.
* Effective time management and organizational skills.
* Empathy and sensitivity towards patients.
* Successful DBS check and occupational health clearance.
Desirable:
* Experience in medicines management.
* Involvement with ICB initiatives.
* Experience in teaching and training in dermatology.
