As a Senior Business Analyst, you will lead complex analytical work to understand business problems, define user and organisational needs, and shape effective digital and process‑based solutions. You will manage stakeholder relationships, identify opportunities for improvement, and use data‑driven insights to guide decision‑making and prioritisation.
The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) is seeking a Senior Business Analyst to join its Information Technology Directorate, a team dedicated to delivering world‑class digital services that support the organisation's critical mission. Within this directorate, the IT Delivery Management function oversees the direction and governance of digital portfolios, programmes, and projects, ensuring value for money and alignment with government priorities. You will become part of the Business Analysis team, a highly collaborative group providing vital analytical insight to inform evidence‑based decision‑making. The team works across people, processes, data, and technology to understand business needs, shape opportunities, and define the requirements that enable successful service design and transformation.

Responsibilities
* Manage and maintain strong stakeholder relationships.
* Support the business analysis community through best‑practice sharing and mentoring.
* Analyse business problems and identify opportunities for improvement.
* Conduct research to understand people, processes, data, and technology within the business.
* Identify improvement options, assess impacts, and define success measures.
* Gather, refine, and document user and business needs for service development and testing in an Agile environment.
* Use analysis‑led insights to support prioritisation and minimum viable product decisions.
* Ensure new services meet user needs and align with organisational goals and constraints.
Qualifications
* Possesses a functional appreciation of business analysis methodologies such as Agile.
* Experience with analysis and modelling techniques and tools.
