Home Tutor (Part-time)
Location: Stockton-on-Tees
Salary: £25 - £30 per hour (dependent on experience and qualifications)
Start Date: September 2025
The School and Role
We are seeking experienced and resilient QTS teachers to join our team as tutors, supporting students who do not access traditional school settings. In this rewarding role, you will work closely with children and young adults in their homes, local libraries, or community centres, helping to re-engage them with education and fostering a love for learning.
Many pupils face challenges such as behavioural issues, high-functioning anxiety, or disabilities that necessitate home-based learning. Your primary goal will be to create engaging, personalized learning sessions tailored to each pupil’s developmental needs, building positive relationships with learners and their families.
Responsibilities
1. Provide one-on-one tutoring sessions tailored to the pupil's specific needs, working in various settings including family homes and residential facilities for LAC, with students from KS2 to KS4.
2. Read, analyze, and plan according to EHCPs, assessing pupil progress.
3. Plan lesson activities ensuring curriculum coverage.
4. Write weekly reports and personalized learning plans to track development.
5. Monitor progress and adapt strategies to ensure continuous improvement.
6. Collaborate with parents, caregivers, and other professionals for holistic support.
7. Employ a creative and versatile teaching style.
8. Hold Professional Teaching Qualifications (QTS/QTLS/PGCE) or extensive tuition experience, especially supporting English.
9. Have experience working with children with additional learning needs (SEN/SEMH) and disengaged young people or looked after children.
10. Possess an enhanced DBS check or willingness to obtain one.
