Main duties of the job
We would welcome applications from both newly qualified pharmacists, those qualifying later in 2025, and those with some experience at band 6 in hospital pharmacy looking for new opportunities. Applications from pharmacists looking to change sectors is also welcomed.
We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated pharmacists to join our team and contribute to delivering and developing our high quality, patient‑focused service. You will join a team of rotational pharmacists working across all aspects of hospital pharmacy with opportunities to gain experience in a wide range of clinical specialties and pharmacy services.
Our structured training programme will be tailored to you and your level of experience. You will have support and regular feedback from our team of experienced senior pharmacists during all rotations and will have the opportunity to undertake a postgraduate pharmacy diploma.
Applicants will be self‑motivated, able to work independently and be capable of working under pressure. The successful candidates must have excellent communication skills and be willing to learn.
This post is for full time employment. To support 7‑day working all staff are required to work 1 in 10 weekends with corresponding time off given during the week. All staff are required to undertake at least one bank holiday duty per year. It is expected that band 6 pharmacists will participate in the on‑call service which attracts additional pay.
Job responsibilities
* To liaise with all pharmacy staff grades, medical, nursing and other staff in the provision and development of clinical pharmacy services.
* Follow accreditation, to actively prescribe discharge medication according to Trust protocol to ensure delays in discharge do not occur.
* To undertake and actively participate in clinical and medication management audits and implement changes to ensure compliance.
* To participate in quality improvement programmes relating to pharmacy / use of medicines.
* To participate in the provision of a medicines information service and Pharmacy helpline to staff and patients.
* To ensure that all provisions of the current law relating to pharmacy and medicines are complied with both within the Pharmacy Department and throughout the Trust. This will include completion of statutory ward controlled drug checks and advice on safe storage of medicines.

Qualifications
* Current listing on the General Pharmaceutical Council register as a registered pharmacist.
* Master of Pharmacy.
Experience
* Clinical pharmacy knowledge and experience.
* Experience of working in hospital pharmacy.
Skills
* Communication skills – oral and written.
