Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic technical assistant to develop expertise in groundwater resources, quality and contaminated land. The role uses evidence‑led, risk‑based approaches to protect and enhance the groundwater environment, deliver regulatory obligations and support incident response.
Responsibilities
* Manage groundwater level and quality monitoring networks
* Provide technical assistance for permits to abstract groundwater, discharge to ground, or for waste and installation sites
* Advise local planning authorities on development proposals affecting groundwater resources and quality, and on risks from contaminated land
* Support permitting work with administrative tasks in a risk‑based approach
* Respond to information requests and enquiries
* Maintain and update filing systems to ensure accurate information
* Provide administrative support to team leaders and senior officers
Qualifications
* Basic knowledge and experience in hydrogeology and/or contaminated land
* Understanding of risks associated with groundwater
* Good level of Microsoft Office, including Excel
* Strong problem‑solving ethos and drive to achieve results
* Strong verbal and written communication skills
* Administrative organisational skills; filing and maintenance of filing systems
