About the Role The Principal Building Decarbonisation Project Officer will support the public sector and local authorities, industry and energy networks to develop plans to decarbonise their buildings. They will enable investment in strategic infrastructure including renewable generation, heat networks, heat pumps, smart controls, energy efficiency, green gas and hydrogen. About You The ideal candidate will have: • Experience within the energy sector (i.e. Building services or Engineer / Mechanical Engineer / Sustainability Advisor / Energy Manager). We would strongly encourage candidates with a Postgraduate degree in topics related to HVAC, photovoltaic/battery design and heat transfer. • Be able to carry out energy project assessments and manage the development of specific energy efficiency and smart control projects including site surveys and the development of robust project business cases. • Support organisations to understand the opportunities and challenges associated with energy efficiency and smart control and inform policy and strategy making across business, housing, transport and energy networks • Manage energy projects through to completion and ensure conditions of associated funds are met. • Support organisations to prepare submissions and bid for funding and finance. • Form a key part of the Midlands Net Zero Hub team with responsibility for building relationships across the Midlands - This post is covered by the statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) (English Language Requirement for public sector workers) and therefore the ability to speak fluent English, is an essential requirement for the role.
