About Ledgr
Ledgr helps finance teams redesign and automate manual finance processes using modern software, workflow automation and AI where it genuinely adds value.
We work with businesses and accountancy firms to understand messy real-world finance processes, identify where automation can create the most value, and deliver practical solutions that reduce manual work, improve control and move finance teams towards a more exceptions‑led way of working.
The role
We’re looking for an accountant / finance systems person who wants to work at the intersection of finance, product, systems and delivery.
This is not a traditional finance role, and it is not a pure project management role. You’ll sit between finance, product and delivery, initially working closely with the founder on live client workstreams and gradually taking more ownership as Ledgr’s delivery model develops.
You’ll support enterprise finance automation projects, Ledgr product development and client implementations - helping turn messy requirements into clear solutions that can be built, tested and reused.
The right person will be comfortable getting into the detail of finance processes, but also excited by improving how those processes work using modern software and automation. Sometimes the answer will be AI; often it will be better process design, better software, clearer controls or simpler workflows.
What you’ll do
You’ll help with the finance/product side of Ledgr’s client and product work, including:
* understanding client finance processes, pain points and current ways of working;
* challenging existing processes and identifying simpler, better-controlled ways of working;
* turning finance requirements into clear solution notes, acceptance criteria and development tickets;
* planning and running UAT, then testing outputs against expected accounting and commercial outcomes;
* working with developers to iterate quickly on software changes;
* supporting Ledgr‑led client workstreams across requirements, process validation, testing and delivery;
* spotting repeatable patterns that could become Ledgr product features or reusable implementation playbooks;
* using AI and modern tools as a default way of working — speeding up requirements, testing, documentation, analysis, client notes and solution design;
* generally getting stuck in and helping make things happen.
You won’t be expected to be a developer. But you should be comfortable working with developers, using modern tools to speed up your own work, and translating finance/process requirements into something that can be built and tested.
What we’re looking for
You do not need to have done this exact role before, but you’ll probably be:
* a qualified accountant, part‑qualified accountant, or someone with very strong finance systems experience;
* experienced in areas such as finance operations, management accounting, AP/P2P, O2C/AR, month‑end or finance process improvement;
* naturally interested in how finance processes could work better;
* comfortable working with software teams, system implementations or process improvement projects;
* able to write clear requirements, test scenarios and process notes;
* confident speaking with finance teams and senior stakeholders;
* pragmatic, curious and comfortable with ambiguity;
* keen to use AI and modern tools to make yourself and the team much more efficient, even if you are not technical today.
You might currently be a finance systems accountant, management accountant, commercial finance analyst, finance transformation analyst, ERP business analyst, implementation consultant, or just the person in the finance team who always ends up improving processes and fixing systems.
What would make you stand out
Any of the following would be useful:
* experience improving finance processes or moving work out of spreadsheets, emails or legacy systems;
* experience with UAT, finance system testing or implementation projects;
* understanding of areas such as AP/P2P, AR/O2C, supplier statements, accruals, prepayments, VAT or reconciliations;
* confidence working with developers or software teams;
* curiosity and hands‑on experience with more advanced tools such as Power Query, SQL, basic coding, low‑code, Claude Code or Cursor.
You do not need to be an expert in a specific ERP. Understanding finance processes, controls and how systems should behave is more important than knowing every screen in NetSuite, Dynamics or SAP.
What this is not
This is not a conventional reporting/accounting role.
It is also not a pure PM role. Client‑side project managers will often own plans, governance and stakeholder coordination. Your value will be in understanding the finance process, shaping the right solution, testing whether it works, and helping turn real‑world client problems into repeatable Ledgr capability.
Ledgr is still early enough that this role will genuinely shape how we work, what we build and how we deliver client projects.
You’ll work directly with the founder and be involved in shaping how Ledgr delivers finance automation for businesses and accountancy firms. You’ll get exposure to real client problems, product decisions, modern finance workflows and the practical reality of redesigning finance processes in an AI‑enabled world.
As an early hire, this will suit someone who is happy with pace, ambiguity and occasionally doing things outside a neat job description.
It is a good fit for someone who likes finance, but does not want to spend the next ten years just producing reports, closing ledgers or managing month‑end.
We want someone who sees finance changing and wants to be part of building what comes next.
