Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people? Do you have experience working with vulnerable children and seek a new challenge that will develop your career while making a significant impact? If so, our Senior Care Officer role might be the perfect fit for you!
About the Role:
We are seeking two dedicated Senior Care Officers to join our team. One position is at Cardigan Road Children’s Home in Bridlington, recently rated 'Good' by Ofsted, and the other at our newly opened home in Driffield.
As a Senior Care Officer, you will be responsible for caring for and supporting our children and young people, similar to a parental role. This includes encouraging their interests and hobbies, supporting their education, facilitating family time, maintaining a safe and cozy home environment, cooking meals, and ensuring they feel safe and secure. You will transport young people in the home’s vehicle, assist with their schoolwork, listen to their wishes and feelings, and work with their families to promote positive relationships.
Our children and young people often have experienced trauma. They need understanding and meaningful relationships to help keep them safe and enable them to enjoy the world around them. Our young people describe good Senior Care Officers as caring, approachable, respectful, determined, interested, giving, adaptable, and non-judgemental. They also assist us in the interview process to ensure we select the right candidates.
In addition to caregiving responsibilities, you will be part of the management team at the home and hold the following key responsibilities:
* Leading and planning shifts
* Managing risks effectively
* Supervising and training staff
* Collaborating with multiple agencies
* Making day-to-day decisions in line with the young person’s care plan
Building meaningful relationships and providing understanding care are crucial in helping our young people feel safe and valued.
Ideal Candidate:
* Experience working with vulnerable young people
* QCF Level 3 Diploma or equivalent
* Desire to provide focused support to a young person
* Supervisory experience is beneficial but not essential
* Ability to work shift patterns, including weekdays, evenings, weekends, and sleep-in duties
What We Offer:
* Comprehensive induction, regular supervision, and ongoing training opportunities
* Physical intervention training
* Enhanced pay for weekend and evening hours, averaging an additional £4,500 per year, plus £2,000 annually for sleep-in shifts
* Double time and time off in lieu for Bank Holidays
* Excellent pension scheme with a 19.3% employer contribution
Join us in making a real difference. Apply now and take the next step in your career while shaping the future of a young person in need.
