Progression and Development
Most Wetherspoon team leaders and managers started in the kitchen or behind the bar. If you’re looking to progress, we support development with structured on‑the‑job training, apprenticeships, management academies and cross‑training into other areas (bar, floor, hotel). Opportunities to move into team‑leader, kitchen‑shift‑leader or pub‑manager roles are available.
Working Environment
Wetherspoons promotes an inclusive working environment where everyone is welcome. Some work is physically demanding – it may involve standing, moving around a busy kitchen and handling hot equipment. Hours per week are 27, typically starting at 6:00 am and ending at 00:00 am. Shift patterns vary.
Additional Information
Under‑18s may receive a lower rate of pay, but it will always be in line with, and usually above, national guidelines.
